Magdalena Ball
Magdalena Ball is Editor in Chief of The Compulsive Reader. She is the author of Sleep Before Evening, The Art of Assessment, Quark Soup, and, in collaboration with Carolyn Howard-Johnson, Cherished Pulse and She Wore Emerald Then. She runs a monthly radio program podcast www.blogtalkradio.com/compulsivereader, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from CCNY (New York), an MBA from Charles Sturt University (Wagga), and has studied literature on a postgraduate level at Oxford University (UK).



Bob Williams
Bob Williams is retired and lives in a small town with his wife, dogs and a cat. He has been collecting books all his life, and has done freelance writing, mostly on classical music. His principal interests are James Joyce, Jane Austen and Homer. Jack Goodstein
Jack Goodstein was a Professor of English for over thirty years. After retiring he turned to acting and is currently seeking stardom which is seemingly just beyond his grasp. He has written plays (e.g. productions at the Pulse Ensemble Theatre in New York and Northern Lights Theatre in Edmunton, Alberta), fiction ( e.g.The Maine Review, The Jewish Digest, Eclectica), and non-fiction (e.g. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, College English).



Donna Denn
Donna "Diamond" Denn works at a Hastings store in the book department, and loves her job. Books are an addiction for her, and she participates in a number of reading groups online, and runs an online fantasy reading group. She also knits, crochets and works on the garden as sidelines, but books are her first love.



Victor Verney
Victor Verney grew up in Buffalo, NY, where he developed an early and abiding love for music, literature and baseball. After spending a four-year hitch in the U.S. Navy indulging his inner Herman Melville, he went on to a stint as a semi-pro jazz pianist indulging his inner Chick Corea. Eventually, he earned graduate degree in American literature at the State University of NY-Buffalo; his doctoral dissertation was directed by the late Leslie Fiedler, renowned literary critic and author of the widely acclaimed "Love and Death in the American Novel." Formerly a college literature professor, Victor has also been a journalist, serving as an editor for weekly and daily newspapers in Iowa. Now a full-time freelance writer living in the Des Moines area, his primary hobbies continue to be jazz and baseball (along with mowing the lawn). Mayra Calvani
Mayra Calvani is the author of two books. Her stories, articles and reviews have appeared in many online and print publications in the States, England, and Puerto Rico. In addition, she is assistant editor of “Voice in the Dark” newsletter, where she writes a monthly column. She has lived in America, Asia, the Middle East, and is now settled in Brussels, Belgium, where she lives with her husband, two children and a variety of pets.

Roberta Austin
Roberta Austin was born in Roanoke , Virginia, and as an army child, she spent most of her young life traveling to Germany, Japan, Texas, Maryland and Georgia. With librarians and teachers in her background, she learned to read at 5 and has been an avid reader ever since. Currently residing in Atlanta GA, she works as a Library Associate; a dream job for a book addict.
